T-Mobile yet to resume rollout of the Galaxy S9 update paused last month
Last updated: May 21st, 2018 at 00:44 UTC+01:00
Samsung and T-Mobile, in particular, seem to exist having some problems with their software update releases in recent weeks. Samsung recently had to temporarily halt the release of Oreo for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge due to kick loop problems while T-Mobile put the Oreo update for the Milky way Notation 8 on concur final month before eventually rolling it out a couple of weeks later.
That wasn't the but update that T-Mobile paused in April. It rolled out a firmware update for the Milky way S9 and Galaxy S9+ on April 13 that was put on concord the very next mean solar day. It has been over a month and there'south still no word from the carrier when this update volition be out once again.
Still unclear when the rollout will resume
T-Mobile released G960USQU2ARC6 and G965USQU2ARC6 for the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ last month. Even though the firmware was released in the second calendar week of April and believed to characteristic the latest security patch, it really came with the March 2018 security patch.
It was initially believed that the firmware update brought the April 2018 security patch because the changelog mentioned that the update included Android security updates and bug fixes. Nevertheless, it was later confirmed that this firmware version didn't bring the latest security maintenance release.
Soon later on the update was sent out over-the-air, some Galaxy S9 and Milky way S9+ owners started complaining nearly their devices getting stuck in a boot loop after installing the update. This caused T-Mobile to pause the rollout the very side by side 24-hour interval. If you open the support pages for both handsets on T-Mobile's website correct now they mention that the update was paused on April 14 and is however "Temporarily on agree."
We accept highlighted before that in that location's a build floating around with version number G965USQS2ARD3 that does feature the April 2018 patch merely T-Mobile hasn't rolled it out as yet so it's not official. T-Mobile is yet to confirm when it's going to release a newer build to finally update these devices from the March security patch.
The latest security maintenance release for the month of May 2018 is out already so it would make sense for T-Mobile to develop a fresh build for the Milky way S9 and Milky way S9+ now. It can't be said for sure, though, when it'southward going to start rolling one out.
